Classical Archive is a long-term independent cultural project dedicated to the preservation, organization and transmission of classical music history in digital form. It was created from a simple conviction: classical music deserves a space in which depth, historical context, continuity and serious documentation take precedence over speed, fragmentation and superficial consumption.
Classical Archive is therefore more than a collection of musical material. It is conceived as an interconnected digital archive, bringing together composers, performers, recordings, photographs, books, historical documents, musical analysis and scholarly reference resources within a common historical framework.
A Living and Evolving Archive
Classical Archive is not intended to be a closed collection. It is a living archive, continuously expanded as new material is researched, documented, classified and connected with the existing collection.
Its purpose is not simply to accumulate information, but to establish relationships between the people, works, documents and traditions that have shaped the history of classical music. A composer can therefore lead to the performers who interpreted the music; a conductor to the composers and orchestras associated with a career; a historical photograph to a biography; and a book or document to the musical and historical subjects it illuminates.
The result is an archive designed for exploration as well as consultation.

Rather than presenting these materials as isolated files, Classical Archive seeks to place them within the wider network of people, works, institutions and historical circumstances to which they belong.
A Community Around the Archive
A fundamental part of Classical Archive exists beyond the website through an extensive international network of Facebook communities devoted to composers, periods, performers, genres and musical traditions.
These communities provide the more immediate and interactive dimension of the project: new material is shared, recordings and historical documents are discussed, unfamiliar repertoire is discovered and members from different countries contribute their knowledge and perspectives.
Participation is free and open, and provides one of the best ways of following the continuing development of Classical Archive.

Classical Archive is conceived as a long-term independent cultural initiative. Access to the principal archive and participation in its communities remain free. Those who wish to contribute to its development can support the project through Patreon, helping to sustain hosting, technical development, digital preservation, research and the continuing expansion of the archive.
Supporters may also have access to additional or extended material where appropriate. Patreon is not conceived as a barrier to the archive, but as a means of helping an independent cultural project remain sustainable and continue to grow.
Independence and Editorial Integrity
Classical Archive is editorially independent. Its contents are selected according to their historical, documentary and musical significance, rather than commercial priorities or short-term popularity.
This independence makes it possible to give appropriate attention not only to universally celebrated composers and performers, but also to neglected repertories, historical interpretations, documentary sources and figures whose importance can easily disappear from contemporary musical culture.
The underlying principle is simple: preservation is meaningful only when accompanied by context, accessibility and continued exploration.
An Archive for the Future
Classical music represents several centuries of accumulated artistic and cultural memory.
Preserving that inheritance digitally involves more than storing files. It requires identification, classification, documentation, connection and interpretation.
Classical Archive is being developed with that long-term objective: to create an increasingly coherent digital environment in which musical history can be explored through its people, works, performances, documents, images and sources.

About the Founder
Classical Archive was created and is administered by Alejandro Rosàs Navarro, a lifelong lover of classical music whose fascination with this extraordinary world began at the age of twelve.
Although not a professional musician, he has pursued classical music throughout his life as a self-taught and passionate listener, developing his knowledge through decades of listening, reading, collecting recordings and exploring the lives, works and interpretations of the great composers and performers.
Professionally, he is a family physician, a field entirely separate from music, which has always remained a deeply personal passion. Classical Archive grew from the desire to transform that lifelong enthusiasm into a permanent resource where recordings, composers, performers, historical material, articles and other musical content can be explored and preserved.
Classical Archive is therefore, above all, a project born from more than fifty years of curiosity, listening and love for classical music.
